Pownce Official Website

Pownce.comPownce is a new social networking software/website combination. The main reason I chose this software is that the idea is one that I think the majority of people would enjoy. By adding friends to your profile you are given the ability to post notes for them to read, share pictures or files with them, share links with them, or post events for them to say they will attend or not. The interface on the website is nice and clean, easy to navigate and makes for an enjoyable experience.

One really cool feature of Pownce is the ability to download and run a small application that gives you updates on what your friends have posted or your own posts. The nice thing about this software is that it doesn't try to do everything on its own, and integrates very well with the website. You can also make posts right from this application, and if someone posts a link for you to view, not only can you click on the link and have it load you can also click to go right to their profile as well. The website provides very basic interaction, and doesn't have all the clunk and extras that most social sites (like facebook or myspace) have. I find all those little applications people can load into their profiles on those sites annoying, and think that the approach of Pownce is much better.

Another nice little feature of Pownce is the ability to search for friends from Yahoo! or Gmail or facebook. There are several other sites you can search for friends from, but I'm not going to list them all. What it does is it takes the names from your friends list and searches for people who have Pownce accounts with those names. This is a great way to save time as you don't Pownce reviewhave to search for each individual friend.

I think the most important feature of Pownce is the ease of use. Instead of sending an email with the link in it or a picture and having to deal with loading them into some webspace, you can click a button, point it to the picture or link, put in a little comment, and choose who you want to send it to. Not only is it easy to use, it's easy to set up and easy to start sharing with your friends. I think these are major advantages to any social network, and hope to see more advances in the social networking line along the same terms as Pownce.

If you have any need to share files or just want a way to show some of the cool things you find on the net to your friends, I certainly recommend checking out Pownce and the software they have created as well. If you have a Pownce account, add me to your friends list.
